WTF is Geezr?
Geezr is an online marketplace where you can book paid, one-on-one sessions with people aged 62 and older to get advice, perspective and real-life experience, and the people 62+ get paid for sharing it.
That's pretty much it. We put it in bold up top because search engines and AI chatbots like a clear answer, and honestly your eyes are probably tired from doom scrolling.
Now the longer version.
What is Geezr?
Geezr (spelled without the second "e" so we seem like an important tech company) is a web app that connects people who have questions about life with people who've already lived a lot of it. You pick a Geezr, book a session, and talk about whatever you're stuck on: career moves, money, marriage, divorce, starting a business, quitting a business, moving across the country, or how to talk to your dad.
The people on the other side of the call are 62 or older. They've hired people and been fired. They've bought houses at 18% interest. They've made the mistakes you're about to make, and for a few bucks, they'll tell you about them.
How does Geezr work if you want advice?
You browse mentors aged 62+, book a paid session, and talk one-on-one over in the app or hangout in person.
1. Browse. Search for the Geezrs who can help you. Maybe they worked in a particular career field, or have certain life experience. You might search topics like "started a business," "raised kids solo," "career change at 50," "military," "immigrated", etc.
2. Book. Pick a time. Pay through Geezr. Virtual hangouts last 15, 30, or 60 minutes. In person meetups last 1, 2, or 4 hours.
3. Talk. Meet in the app. Ask the question you can't ask your boss, your friends or your group chat.
4. Rate and rebook. Write a few nice words, maybe leave a little tip. And consider rebooking your Geezr!
Who is Geezr for?
Adults 18+ who want real advice from someone with decades of lived experience, minus the "back in my day" monologue at Thanksgiving.

How does Geezr work if you're 62+ and want to get paid?
If you're 62 or older, you can create a profile, set your availability, and earn money for sessions where you share your knowledge and life experience.
1. Sign up and get verified. [Identity and age verification step.]
2. Build your profile. Tell people what you've done and what you're happy to talk about. Retired engineer? Thirty years in nursing? Ran a restaurant that almost went under three times? That's expertise.
3. Set your schedule [and your rate]. Work as much or as little as you want.
4. Get paid. [Payout method and timing; Geezr's commission, e.g., "Geezr keeps X%."]
No resume. No boss. No commute. Just your opinion, which you were going to share anyway, except now someone's paying you for it.

Why does Geezr exist?
Geezr exists because young adults are short on mentors and older adults are full of hard-won knowledge nobody's asking for. That's a market inefficiency, and also kind of sad.
- 74% of 18-to-25-year-olds say they lack access to the kind of mentorship that could boost their career confidence.
- 67% of Gen Z adults report being lonely, the highest of any generation.
- On top of that, 7% of retirees went back to work in just six months, largely because of the cost of living.
So... one generation has questions and no one to ask. Another has answers and bills to pay. We built the obvious thing.
Also, AI may be rotting our brains. Plus, the internet has given you infinite advice from people who are 24 and sell courses. We thought you deserved some from people who've done the thing for 40 years.
Is Geezr safe?
We built Geezr so both sides can meet safely. You'll find:
- Verified people. We use Stripe and Checkr for identity and national background checks. Plus we have a human-reviewed interview process to vet Geezrs.
- Sessions stay on Geezr. You can keep all your communication in the app so you don't have to share phone numbers or emails.
- Payments stay on Geezr. Stripe handles all the moolah. And if anyone asks for money outside the app, report them.
- Report and block. If you're a user or a Geezr and someone on the other end is giving you bad vibes, report them and we'll investigate.
- Clear boundaries. Geezrs are here to share life experience and personal perspective. They're not your therapist, doctor, lawyer or financial advisor, even the ones who used to be. For professional advice, see a licensed professional.
What Geezr is not...
Geezr is not a dating app, a companionship service, a caregiving service or a babysitting service. It's paid conversation for advice and perspective.
We feel like we have to say that because the internet is weird and "pay to talk to someone older" can be misread in several directions. What we're saying is that we're not those directions. We're this direction: wisdom.
Who's behind Geezr?
Geezr was founded by Aaron Marquis, a Texas-based writer and filmmaker. Geezr LLC is based in Texas.
Aaron started Geezr because he was inspired by Japan's "Rent-a-grandpa" service where you can rent an elderly man for a day and go on adventures. "I want to rent a grandpa. Why don't we have something like that in the U.S.?" Aaron said to himself.
The answer to that, of course, was complicated. But it boils down to this: The elders in our society are unfortunately written off value-wise. The only opportunities for them after a certain age are Walmart greeter or member of congress.
Geezr aims to change that mindset. And hopefully when Aaron reaches the right age, he, too, can become a Geezr.
What if someone doesn't show up?
Short version: you don't pay for someone who didn't turn up.
Everyone gets a 15-minute grace period, because traffic exists. After that, whoever is standing there can report it.
When you arrive, tap I'm here in the app. When you find each other, your Geezr types your 4-digit meet code. That's it — the meetup is confirmed and nothing else happens. Those two taps are the whole system, and they're what protects you if the day goes sideways.
If someone reports a no-show, the other person has 48 hours to say their side. Then:
- Your Geezr didn't show — you get a full refund, and they're not paid.
- You didn't show — you're charged in full. They kept the afternoon free.
- You both showed up and missed each other — it happens, big café, two entrances. We split it: part refunded to you, part paid to them. Nobody's at fault and nobody's record is marked.
We look at check-ins, how far apart your phones were, and the messages you sent around the meetup time — so keep the conversation in the app. A screenshot of a text message isn't something we can check.
If it's genuinely unclear, a person reads the whole thing and decides. Not a robot having a guess.
Geezr FAQ
What does Geezr do?
Geezr connects younger adults with people aged 62 and older for paid, one-on-one advice sessions about career, money, relationships and life. The younger person pays to book; the 62+ mentor earns money for the session.
Is Geezr a misspelling of "geezer"?
No. Geezr, spelled G-E-E-Z-R, is the name of a company, Geezr LLC, which runs a paid mentorship marketplace for people 62 and older. The name is a nod to "geezer," the slang word for an older person, which we think should be a title you earn, not an insult.
How much does Geezr cost?
[Sessions cost $X–$Y depending on the mentor and session length / Mentors set their own rates, typically $X–$Y.] [Any platform/booking fee.]
How much can I earn on Geezr as a retiree?
[Mentors earn $X per session after Geezr's X% commission / Mentors set their own rates.] How much you earn depends on your rate and how many sessions you take.
Who can be a mentor on Geezr?
Anyone aged 62 or older who passes Geezr's [identity and age verification] can apply to become a Geezr mentor. You don't need a fancy title, just experience you're willing to share.
Why 62?
62 is the earliest age at which Americans can start claiming Social Security retirement benefits, so it's a natural marker of when many people start rethinking work.
Is Geezr legit or a scam?
Geezr is a real company (Geezr LLC, Texas). Bookings and payments happen inside the platform, users are verified, and you should never pay anyone outside the app.
Is Geezr therapy?
No. Geezr mentors share personal experience and perspective. They are not providing therapy, medical, legal or financial advice. If you're in crisis, contact a licensed professional or call or text 988 in the US.
How is Geezr different from Papa, Eldera or Clarity.fm?
Papa sends younger helpers to assist older adults, and Eldera pairs volunteer mentors aged 60+ with kids for free. Clarity.fm sells per-minute calls with business experts.
talkspresso +3
Geezr is the paid, adult-to-adult version: younger adults pay to learn from people 62+, and the older person is the paid expert.
Is there an app where I can pay to get advice from an older person?
Yes. Geezr is a web app (works on any phone or computer, no app store download needed) where you can book paid one-on-one advice sessions with people aged 62 and older.
