Version 2026-09-05
This is a draft, not final legal text.
We've written a plain-English first pass describing how Geezr actually works so that nothing about the service is hidden from you while we get these documents reviewed by a lawyer. The description of what we collect and who we share it with is accurate. The legal terms themselves may change.
1. The short version
Geezr is run by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME]. To run a service where strangers meet — sometimes in person — we collect more than a typical website does: identity documents, background checks, recorded video, and payment details.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't run advertising on Geezr. Everything below is what we collect, why we need it, and which companies see it.
2. What we collect
From everyone
- Your email address and password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and we never see them.
- Your name, profile photo, and phone number if you give us one.
- Bookings you make or receive, messages you exchange, reviews you write, and photos shared with a session.
- Notification preferences, including quiet hours, and web-push subscriptions if you enable them.
- Basic technical records — pages requested, errors, and rough location from your IP address — kept to run and secure the service.
From Geezrs, in addition
- A government-issued ID and your date of birth, checked by our identity provider to confirm you meet the 62+ requirement.
- Your recorded video screen and its transcript, plus the automated assessment produced from it.
- A background check, if you offer in-person sessions.
- Your profile video, its transcript, and the short highlight clip we generate from it.
- Your rates, availability, and the approximate area you serve. We convert the postcode you give us into coordinates so distance-based search works — we do not track your live location.
- Payout details, collected and held by Stripe.
From sessions
- Some video sessions are recorded and transcribed. You are told inside the call when a recording is running.
- Automated summaries produced from those transcripts.
- Photos taken during or after a session, private to the two participants unless you both agree to publish one.
3. Why we collect it
- To run the service you asked for — creating your account, matching, booking, messaging and paying.
- To keep people safe. Age verification, background checks and the video screen exist because we are introducing people to each other, sometimes in their homes.
- To take payments and pay Geezrs, which requires identity information our payment provider is legally obliged to collect.
- To improve search results, so members find someone they will actually get on with.
- To contact you about bookings, and about the service itself.
- To meet our legal obligations and to investigate reports of harm.
4. Where automated systems are involved
We use AI tools in a few specific places, and it is worth being plain about which:
- Transcribing recorded video — your profile video, your application interview, and recorded sessions.
- Producing a first-pass assessment of a Geezr application interview. This is only ever a recommendation: a person makes every approval and rejection decision.
- Summarising reviews into the short description shown on a profile.
- Choosing which moments of a profile video become the highlight clip.
- Turning profiles and search queries into numerical representations so that search can match on meaning rather than keywords.
No decision that materially affects you — approval, rejection, suspension — is made by an automated system alone.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information with the companies that make the service work. They act on our instructions and may only use what we send for the purpose described.
- Supabase — our database, file storage and login system. Holds most of what is listed above.
- Vercel — hosts the site and runs the application.
- Stripe — payments, Geezr payouts, and identity verification. Stripe receives your payment details and, for Geezrs, your ID document and date of birth. We do not store your card number.
- Checkr — background checks for Geezrs offering in-person sessions. Receives the identity details needed to run the check.
- Daily.co — runs video calls and stores session recordings where they are made.
- Deepgram — transcribes recorded audio from profile videos, application interviews and sessions.
- Anthropic — the AI model behind interview assessment, review summaries and highlight selection. Receives transcripts and review text.
- OpenAI — generates the numerical representations used for search matching. Receives profile and query text.
- Creatomate — renders profile highlight clips.
- SendGrid and Twilio — send our emails and text messages. Receive your email address or phone number and the message content.
- Google — only if you choose to connect your calendar. We add and remove your session events; we never read your calendar.
We also share information when the law requires it, and where we believe in good faith that someone is at risk of serious harm. If the business is ever sold, information moves with it, and we'll tell you first.
Some of these companies are in the United States and elsewhere, so data crosses borders.
6. What other people can see
Your Geezr profile — name, photo, bio, highlight clip and reviews — is public, including to people who are not signed in. That is the point of it.
Your application interview video is never public. Your messages and session photos are visible only to the other participant unless you both agree to publish a photo. Members are not publicly listed.
7. How long we keep things
We keep your account information while your account exists. After you close it, we remove or anonymise what we can and keep the rest only as long as we need it — payment records for tax and accounting, safety reports and their outcomes, and anything involved in an unresolved dispute.
Recordings and transcripts are kept for a limited period and then deleted, except where a session has been reported.
8. Your choices
- Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete your account and your information, subject to what we must keep.
- Turn off non-essential email, SMS and push notifications, and set quiet hours, from your notification settings.
- Disconnect your Google Calendar at any time.
- Object to how we use your information, or ask us to restrict it.
Email awmarquis@gmail.comand we'll help. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection regulator.
9. Security and children
We use encryption in transit, keep interview videos and session photos in private storage reachable only through short-lived links, and limit who on our side can see what. No service is perfectly secure, and we'll tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.
Geezr is not for children. We don't knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
10. Changes
If we change this policy materially we'll tell you and, where it matters, ask you to accept the new version. The version number at the top of this page tells you which one is current — the same version is recorded against your account when you accept our Terms of Service.
