Terms of Service

Version 2026-09-05

This is a draft, not final legal text.

We've written a plain-English first pass describing how Geezr actually works so that nothing about the service is hidden from you while we get these documents reviewed by a lawyer. The description of what we collect and who we share it with is accurate. The legal terms themselves may change.

1. Who we are

Geezr is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME]. In these terms, “we” and “Geezr” mean that company, and “you” means you — whether you use Geezr as a member booking sessions or as a Geezr providing them.

By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree with them, please don't create an account.

2. What Geezr is — and what it isn't

Geezr is a marketplace. It connects members who want company, conversation or mentorship with older adults — Geezrs — who offer their time. We provide the platform, handle payments, and vet the people who join as Geezrs. We do not provide the sessions themselves.

Geezr is not a healthcare, caregiving, home-care, counselling, therapy, financial-advice or emergency service, and must not be used as one.

Geezrs are ordinary people offering companionship and life experience. They are not licensed professionals acting in a professional capacity, they are not caregivers, and nothing said in a session is professional advice. If you need medical, legal, financial or mental-health help, please seek a qualified professional. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services — not us.

Geezrs are independent individuals, not our employees, agents or contractors. They set their own availability, decide which requests to accept, and are responsible for their own conduct and their own taxes.

3. Who can use Geezr

You must be at least 18 years old to hold any Geezr account, and you must be able to enter a binding contract where you live.

To be a Geezr, you must be 62 or older. This is a deliberate eligibility criterion, not an incidental one — the whole premise of the service is time with someone who has lived longer than you have. We verify age from a government-issued ID through our identity provider, and an applicant under 62 cannot be approved as a Geezr. They are welcome to join as a member.

Everyone applying to be a Geezr also completes:

  • A recorded, structured video screen — the same four questions for everyone, assessed against a fixed rubric with a human making the final decision.
  • For anyone offering in-person sessions, a third-party background check. In-person availability stays off until it comes back clear.

We can decline or remove any application at our discretion. Vetting reduces risk; it does not eliminate it, and we don't guarantee any person's conduct.

4. Your account

Keep your login details to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Give us accurate information and keep it current — particularly anything we rely on to keep sessions safe.

You may close your account at any time from your settings. Some records are kept after closure where we're required to keep them or need them to resolve a dispute; the Privacy Policy explains what and why.

5. Bookings, payments and cancellations

When you book, you agree to the price shown at checkout, which includes the Geezr's rate and our service fee. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.

A booking is a request until the Geezr accepts it. We charge your payment method when the session is accepted, not when you request it. If a charge fails, the booking is cancelled rather than left hanging.

Cancellation and refund rules — including the notice required and what happens to your money — are shown to you before you confirm and again on the booking itself. Different rules apply to virtual and in-person sessions, because an in-person Geezr may have committed to travel. If a Geezr doesn't show up, you are refunded in full.

Tips are voluntary, go to the Geezr, and are non-refundable once sent. Our service fee is how Geezr operates; we'll tell you before it changes.

6. If you're a Geezr: payouts

You set your own rate and availability. We collect payment from the member and pay you your share through Stripe Connect, which requires you to complete Stripe's identity and payout onboarding before you can accept bookings.

You are self-employed for this work. You are responsible for your own income taxes and any registrations your local law requires. We do not withhold tax on your behalf and are not your employer.

7. How to behave

Sessions should feel good for both people. You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, demean or discriminate against anyone.
  • Solicit or send sexual content, or treat the platform as a dating or escort service.
  • Ask a Geezr to perform personal, medical or physical care of any kind.
  • Ask for or offer money, loans, gifts, investments, or access to financial accounts — including outside the platform.
  • Arrange payment off-platform to avoid fees, which removes every protection we provide.
  • Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent who you are or your age.
  • Record a session without the other person’s knowledge and agreement.
  • Use anything from Geezr — profiles, videos, reviews — outside the service, or scrape the site.

Financial exploitation of older adults is a real and serious harm, and we treat requests for money between members and Geezrs as a red flag regardless of who is asking whom.

8. Safety, reports and suspension

Anyone can report a person or a session from within the app, and we review reports. Where something looks unsafe we may suspend or remove an account, cancel bookings, withhold a payout pending investigation, or contact the authorities.

We may suspend an account temporarily or indefinitely. We'll tell you the reason where we can, but we may act first and explain afterwards when someone's safety is at stake.

9. Video sessions, recordings and photos

Virtual sessions run through a third-party video service. Some sessions are recorded and automatically transcribed so that we can produce a summary for the participants and review a session if it is reported. Where a session is recorded, you will be told inside the call — a recording never starts silently.

Photos taken during or after a session are private to the two participants unless you both agree to make one public. Either of you can decline.

The video screen you record when applying to be a Geezr is never public. It is used to assess your application and is visible only to our reviewers.

10. Reviews and things you post

You keep ownership of what you write, record and upload. You give us permission to host and display it as part of running the service — for example, showing your profile video and reviews to members deciding who to book.

We use automated tools to summarise reviews and to help edit profile videos into short clips. Reviews must be honest accounts of a real session. We may remove content that breaks these terms, and we may decline to publish a review that is abusive or clearly false.

11. What we don't promise

We work hard to make Geezr good, but we provide it “as is”. We don't promise that it will always be available, that every session will be a success, or that a particular Geezr or member will be right for you.

We are not responsible for the conduct of any member or Geezr, online or in person. To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

12. Changes, and ending things

We may update these terms. If a change is material we'll tell you and ask you to accept the new version before you carry on using Geezr. Continuing to use the service after a minor change means you accept it.

You can stop using Geezr whenever you like. We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering the service.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / JURISDICTION], and disputes will be handled by the courts there. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

Please talk to us first — most problems are quicker to fix by email than by anything more formal.
